The Greatest Person Who Ever Lived

Let us examine the Scriptures like the Bereans who "received the message with great eagerness and

examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true."  Acts 17:11 (NIV)

March 28, 2004: “The Greatest Person Who Ever Lived” by Kimber Kauffman, Senior Pastor College Park Church.  The focus of today’s message was to clearly communicate that Jesus Christ was and still is the greatest person who ever lived, and who is alive today.

Pastor Kimber led us through many perspectives on Jesus being the greatest of all time.  First off, His names.  He is called the Alpha and Omega, Son of God, Redeemer, Messiah, the Christ, Lion of Judah, and many more.

Secondly, He has had the greatest influence.  For example, there has never been a greater doctor (think of all the miracles, raising people from the dead).  There has never been a greater physicist (walked on water, created food for thousands out of a few fish and loaves of bread).  There has never been a greater philosopher and teacher (constantly baffled His opponents and followers were always amazed at His teachings).  There has never been a greater friend (demonstrated grace and mercy while maintaining truth like no other).  There has never been a greater leader (He served like no other and had followers like no other).  And the list goes on.  John 21:25, ” Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Thirdly, He was and still is loved and worshipped by His followers more than any other.  John, the apostle, in Revelations (after 50+ years of following the Lord, falls at His feet in worship.  Luke 19: 29+ explains the worship He receives as He enters Jerusalem.  Paul, the apostle, refers to Jesus in all his writings with Phil 1 being one example (20+ references to Jesus’s name).  Then, add in the martyrs who followed Jesus to the end as they were murdered for their faith in Jesus.

Pastor Kimber ended with a challenge to us his flock.  Have we lost our first love (Rev. 2:4)?  Are we taking serious the call to love Jesus Christ with everything (Matt. 22:37)?
